My conclusion: it’s still one of the strongest beginner-friendly data analytics programs on Coursera — but it’s important to understand what it does and doesn’t teach before enrolling.
The current certificate contains 9 courses, is designed for beginners, and Coursera estimates around 6 months at 10 hours per week to complete it. The program currently has a 4.8/5 rating on Coursera from a very large number of learner reviews.
It’s More Than One Course — It’s a 9-Course Data Analytics Program
One of the biggest advantages of the Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate is that it doesn’t throw beginners directly into SQL or programming.
Instead, the curriculum gradually moves from understanding what data analytics is to asking better questions, preparing and cleaning data, analyzing it, visualizing results, learning Python, completing a case study, and finally preparing for the job search with AI tools.

However, I wouldn’t describe it as a complete data science program.
If your goal is advanced machine learning, statistical modeling, data engineering, or becoming a highly technical data scientist, you’ll need considerably more education after this certificate.
Is the Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate Worth It?
For beginners, yes — with one important qualification.
The certificate is valuable because it gives you a structured path through the core data analytics workflow instead of teaching isolated tools.
You aren’t simply learning SQL.
You’re learning how SQL fits into the larger process of asking questions, preparing data, analyzing it, communicating findings, and making decisions.

The Google Data Analytics Certificate
After completing the program, learners earn a shareable Google Career Certificate that can be added to a résumé, CV, LinkedIn profile, or professional portfolio.
The certificate is useful as a way to demonstrate that you’ve completed a structured learning program from Google.
But I wouldn’t treat the credential itself as the main reason to enroll.
The real value is the combination of:

Final Verdict: Should You Take It?
If you’re starting from zero and want to explore a career in data analytics, the Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate is still a strong choice in 2026.
The updated version is especially appealing because it combines traditional analytics foundations with Python, practical case-study work, and new AI-assisted career preparation.
I’d choose it if you want a structured learning path and don’t yet know where to begin.
I wouldn’t choose it expecting the certificate alone to make you job-ready overnight.
Treat the program as your foundation, then build on it with portfolio projects, additional SQL and Python practice, and real-world datasets.
